Our Origins
Not that long ago each company that owned underground network had to be individually contacted in order determine who was present. But since not all the companies present were known, it was common that some were not contacted. Also the process was so arduous that many didn’t go thru the whole process of finding out who was in the area. Info- Excavation was founded in response to this need. Initially eleven companies got together and formed Info- Excavation a one-call center serving the province of Quebec. In 1993, it’s first year of existence, Info- Excavation processed 25 000 request. We now count over 60 corporate members and approximately 70 municipalities as members and the number of request fluctuates close to the 150 000 mark. Even if some companies are rivals in their respective markets, all are unified in their efforts ensure that the quality of the service offered has the security of the population and the environment in mind. The concept already existed in the United-States and other regions of Canada. But unlike other geographical zones, there is no legislation therefore Info- Excavation exists due to the participation of it’s member companies.
