The Pipeline Committee’s members are the following companies that transport hydrocarbons by underground pipeline: Champion Pipe Line Corporation, Enbridge, Gaz Métro, Niagara Gas Transmission, Pipe-lines Montréal, TQM Pipeline, Trans-Northern Pipelines and TransCanada. The Committee’s mission is to develop, transmit and promote a common prevention message to ensure the safety of the public and the integrity of the members’ transportation systems.
The member companies want to reach the same publics (municipalities, excavators, schools, associations, etc.), so a combined effort enables them to reach this clientele more effectively and to ensure wider dissemination of their message regarding safety and prevention measures. With this objective in mind, the awareness efforts begun by the Pipeline Committee several years ago continued in 2010.
First, a new awareness campaign for the municipalities crossed by the pipeline systems began in 2009. As part of the campaign, the Committee met during the year with employees of five municipalities: Granby, Laval, Mascouche, Montréal-Est and Repentigny.

The members’ systems cross 12 of the UPA’s 16 regional federations. The Pipeline Committee and Info-Excavation shared a booth at the Colloque des partenaires de la santé et de la sécurité en agriculture (symposium of health and safety partners in agriculture) organized jointly by the UPA and the CSST. The event attracted prevention professionals from the agricultural sector.
The Pipeline Committee’s leaflet Excaver… sans nous oublier was distributed as an advertising insert in Entracte, the journal of the Chambre des notaires, for a total of 3,500 leaflets distributed.
